Bi-metallic bushings are utilized in a multitude of applications to provide means of supporting a shaft under static, dynamic, rotating, oscillating and/or sliding motion. Widely used applications are connecting rod bushings, rocker arm bushings, transmission part applications or piston pin as well as camshaft bushings. Increasing demands on such properties as load carrying capacity, sliding velocity and resistance to wear have led to steady improvements in the design and material composition of bushings and thrust washers to better match their intended applications. In modern diesel and gasoline engines connecting rod small end bushings meet already the toughest demands on wear resistance and unit load.
